Each person’s understanding of Huntington’s Disease will be different; that’s why we develop a care plan in cooperation with our clients that is tailored to their particular needs and wishes. That consist of making sure we’re providing top-quality clinical care, as well as structuring a plan that enables our clients to continue to live in their own home on their terms, whilst coping with their symptoms.
We recognise that sustaining family life, hobbies, and interests is just as important as keeping well. We aim to enhance our clients’ quality of life by helping them to maintain the skills used in daily living that can deteriorate over time, or develop new skills as they adjust to these changes.
We can work with physiotherapists, who can assist with balance and walking issues, and with exercises to build up strength while occupational therapists can advise on aids and adaptations. These all-help clients retain independence and control in their home environment.
As with any chronic condition, the effect of Huntington’s disease expands not only to the affected person but their family as well. We work to support the emotional well-being of our clients and the people close to them, making it easier for them to spend quality time together, as a family.
